Below street level near Embankment, Gordon's Wine Bar has been pouring drinks in the same vaulted brick cellar since 1890 — candlelit tables, old oak barrels, and a wine list built on partnerships with family-run vineyards.
There's no booking system: you turn up, find a table in the cellar or on the heated outdoor terrace, and order from a huge selection of award-winning wines served from the barrel, plus cheese and charcuterie boards.
It's the kind of place that hasn't needed to change to stay relevant — over a century of regulars is proof enough.
