Deep beneath Waterloo Station, where Victorian brick arches curve overhead and the air smells faintly of a century of music — that's where Friday nights belong. The Vaults Jazz Night has been running for over a decade, stubbornly refusing to grow beyond 120 people, and that's exactly the point.
Each week, a resident quartet sets the foundation: upright bass, piano, drums, and a rotating lead instrument. This Friday it's saxophonist Yemi Akande, fresh from a residency in Brooklyn, playing original compositions from her just-released album alongside reimagined Coltrane.
No dress code. No VIP section. No Instagram backdrops. Just a cold drink, a low ceiling, and music so good it makes you forget what's above you.
